Sooner or later, frown lines are inevitable on any face. Its main causes are the natural aging of the skin (result of loss of collagen and fibrous tissue and slower cell renewal, especially after the age of 30), unprotected exposure to the sun and day-to-day habits, whether related to food or facial expressions.

Forehead and regions around the eyes and mouth are the most affected by expression lines, and the scratches that appear are not exactly celebrated, right? To deal with them, the first step is to discipline yourself and apply the necessary products to your facial skin every day.

To put an end to these marks that usually appear on the face, neck and hands, you can count on aesthetic procedures, in addition to using dermocosmetics and maintaining a healthy routine at home.

Use sunscreen daily

In addition to being the main cause of skin cancer, ultraviolet rays are cellular oxidants responsible for the loss of collagen and the elastic alteration of the skin, which leads to premature aging. Result: lines of expression all over the face.

To avoid this action, use sunscreen every day of the year. Even in winter, even if it's cloudy and raining, UVA and UVB rays pass through the clouds and reach the exposed parts of the body like face, neck and hands, mainly. Ideally, apply the right sunscreen for your skin in the morning and reapply it in the early afternoon.

Apply specific treatment creams to the face twice a day

Until the age of 30, the organism replaces the natural loss of collagen in the skin with peace of mind. Therefore, good moisturizing creams with vitamins and retinol are enough to prevent expression lines.

From this age onwards, however, the body is no longer able to replenish itself, and there is a loss of 1% of collagen in the skin per year. That's where the specific treatment creams for the face come in, with the reinforcement of acids (hyaluronic and glycolic, for example), alpha-hydroxy acids and polypeptides, among other active ingredients.

Both the moisturizer and the treatment creams should be applied twice a day: in the morning and before going to bed, during cleaning routines.

But before buying any type of products, you have to understand what is your skin type and choose the best products for the lines of expression on your face.

Reduce consumption of refined sugar

Refined sugar causes the degradation of the skin's collagen production (and has no health benefits, to be honest). The consequence of this you already know: premature aging and lines of expression. If possible, cut it out of your diet.

Reduce your face expressions

Frowning your forehead, making very wide movements with your mouth (while reading, for example), forcing your lips down to show dissatisfaction or sadness are some of the repetitive movements of the face that most cause lines of expression. Be careful about them. If you notice that you've been doing one (or some) of the movements too much, try to re-educate yourself to reduce the frequency.

Protect your eyes with glasses (sunglasses and prescription glasses)

A very common repetitive facial movement is squinting. It usually has two reasons:

– Adjusting the viewing angle, i.e. see better - when there is an uncorrected eye problem with prescription glasses or contact lenses;

– Protect your eyes from glare – whether from sunlight or its reflection on a surface.

In both cases, this movement helps to cause or reinforce frown lines around the eyes.

The solution is simple: wear glasses. For the first case, consult an ophthalmologist and have the necessary lenses made. For the second, buy good quality sunglasses and wear them whenever it is clear for your degree of eye sensitivity.

Overnight skin care is essential

Do you usually do skincare before bed? This habit is very important because it is a period of cellular regeneration and reorganization, since our baseline metabolism is lower. It is the moment when the products have a much more fruitful action and help with cell detoxification and cleaning.

Night time is the period when the skin is less exposed to environmental aggressors, it is at this time that we can apply more powerful actives and medications to the skin.

Anti-Aging tools to use at home

There are some tools on the market that you can add in your skin care routine, that will help you to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, like the Microdermabrasion Rejuvenation Kit which is a quick, easy and painless treatment to Remove, Reset and Refine your skin for a completely rejuvenated complexion with a more youthful radiant glow and it’s suitable for all skin types.

Another nice tool that help you to have a youthful skin is the Face Sculpt Kit that promotes blood circulation and accelerate skin repair to improve skin elasticity. Enhances and activate serum absorption into the skin. Reduces fine lines and wrinkles and micro-current for a lifting effect and it helps with lymphatic circulation and detoxification.

Facial exercises can smooth out frown lines

There are some simple facial exercises you can implement into your skincare routine to help minimize frown lines. They are aimed at the musculature of the face, making rejuvenation a consequence of improving face functions, tonicity and stretching that the exercises provide. Their practice causes the movements that cause expression lines to decrease.

1. For the forehead:

Place all fingers on forehead, keeping one hand on each side. Movements must be performed outwards, pulling, and upwards, in the direction of the hair. Repeat the exercise 10 times.

2. For the eye area:

Make a "V" with the middle and index fingers of both hands. The middle fingers should be positioned at the end of the inner corner and the index fingers at the outer corner. Press your fingers together and look up, lifting your eyelids as you do. Relax and repeat the exercise 6 times.

3. Soften Chinese mustache

With your mouth closed, make movements with your tongue all around the mouth, pressing the inner wall of it. Make 10 contours for each side.
